Another birthday here and gone - another year older. It's only a number unless you don't take care of yourself and you start feeling the pressure of the years adding up. I've heard many stories of those who take care but still do not live as long as those who go about life without worrying on each and everything little thing. There are extremes and exceptions to every rule. It is better to meet somewhere in the middle without going overboard on a health kick or negligent to the other extreme of not caring at all.
But what is a birthday without a cake? It was a quiet day at home receiving well wishes from friends and family, and just doing what I like to do - write. My Facebook status' claims of a pleasant day were followed up with a cheeky (albeit tongue-in-cheeky) request for "cake?" I know I just have to look in the mirror and know that I don't need cake or any of its partners in dessert crimes. However, I am off to my sister's house tomorrow for coffee and there is a hint of cake on the wind ... mmm ...
Now, I think somewhere I agreed too, that pizza was an allowable diet food - once a month. So if I've already had pizza for my birthday, technically, I'll have to wait until May to have it again. Hmmm, who made that decision? I wrapped up a nice birthday evening with a movie and the company of my dear daughter. It was a good day. Extremely happy? I don't think that is a reasonable reality - but contented? Yes, I'd say so for now.
Don't forget your water and don't worry about another birthday - it's only another number and it's all in how you live the days in between them.
